THE ISSACHAR ANOINTING

"He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather today: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?" - Matthew 16:2-3 KJV

"(sons of Issachar)… men who had understanding of the times to know what Israel ought to do… ” - 1 Chronicles 12:32 KJV

There will be an outpouring of the Issachar anointing, giving eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts to understand. Those who God chooses to anoint will know what day we are in, what God is doing in that day, and what we as Christians are to do. They will understand where we are in relationship to where we are going. They will be able to understand by the Spirit the events that are happening and explain them from God's perspective.

Norm Franz, in his Article "The Issachar Anointing," writes concerning the sons of Issachar:

Their knowledge of the Torah and their understanding of the times made them keepers of the biblical calendar. Consequently, they were the ones who made known the appointed times and seasons of when Israel should observe the feasts of the Lord (Lev. 23). Since the Lord's Feasts reveal God's plan and timing of His redemption in Messiah, I believe it is clear that the sons of Issachar had an anointing which gave them a unique insight into God's timing of things past, present and future.

For example, during Israel's first civil war, when God was transferring the kingdom of Israel from Saul's rulership over to David, eleven of the twelve tribes were divided amongst themselves as to whom they would serve. Only the sons of Issachar, were united to the point that "all their kinsman" joined to fight with David (1 Chron. 12:23-32).

The sons of Issachar were able to totally commit themselves to David, because they understood that it was the time for God to fulfill His prophetic word given by Samuel 17 years earlier (1 Sam. 15:28). The Lord granted them an anointing to understand the prophetic timing for when He would tear the kingdom of Israel away from rebellious Saul and give it over to his servant David (1 Sam. 15:22-28).

With this anointing to understanding the times, they instinctively knew what to do, and they moved with God to establish David's kingdom. In a sense, they were forerunners of a renewed kingdom that was built on obedience to God instead of rebellion and sin. This brought them honor and prosperity according to earlier prophecies given by both Jacob and Moses (Gen. 49:14-15; Deut. 33:18-19).

We need this anointing at this time, and I believe God is releasing these vessels to help prepare the way and the Bride.

In an article titled "Understanding Issachar: Interpreting the Times and Seasons," Chuck Pierce gives us further insight into the Issachar anointing.

"God wants us to understand and interpret our times so we can prosper in every season and have wisdom to advance! God is beyond time, but because of His love for us He reaches down and intervenes in time. A big part of walking in God's blessing involves seeing time from God's perspective and how His cycles operate.

The pagan world saw time as endlessly repeated cycles leading nowhere. The Church has focused on time being linear, with a clear beginning and end. But in reality, both are part of God's plan. God is moving history to a clear destination, but in the process, He uses cycles to move us forward and draw us closer to Him.

When the power of grace enters into time, many situations are rearranged. There is not an understanding of the full concept of judgment in the Body of Christ. When God is ending one season and beginning another, or taking us through transition, He has to end or bring to death some old situations. This is why the tribe of Issachar could understand time. They knew how certain structures had to end so that the new season that God had would begin."

The Issachar anointing will be released in a greater measure during this season of preparation. This anointing brings the vision and counsel of God, as well as the understanding of the times, and the knowledge of what to do. The Issachar anointing puts in proper timing the plans of God.
