Stewarding the Promise

Many in the Body of Christ are hanging on to promises God made to them a long time ago. Keep believing! The promises for your life are coming. But we must align with God to see the promise come to fruition.

Mary, the mother of Jesus, is an example. She saw the promise (Jesus) in a visit from an angel; she then received the promise as hers (let it be done unto me according to your will). Once Mary received the promise, she stewarded the promise in her womb, and after the promise was birthed, she continued to steward the promise (Jesus) until His release into His own promise.

Those promises you hold will be birthed, but before they are birthed, you must see the promise, receive the promise as your own, and then steward it until it comes to pass. How do you position yourself to see, receive, and steward the promise?

Many I have spoken with know they have been in training for most of their lives for a purpose. They have received the promise. But some I spoke with are not even sure what their purpose is. They have not been able to see their promise.

To see the promise, "new eyes" are needed. As we draw near to God, He removes the veil that keeps us from seeing and moves us from head knowledge of Him and His ways to heart-knowing of Him and His ways. Being able to see as God sees prepares us for our promise and our purpose.

"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God." - 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 KJV

If you don't know what your purpose and promise is, draw near to God, where all will be revealed to you.

Job is a classic example of what many are going through at this time. Your shaking may not be as difficult as Job's, or it might be more difficult. The point is that God needed Job to come to a revelation. After Job's many trials, he declared: "I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You." (Job 42:5) We must also come to this revelation.

When we look at history, just about every significant move of God was preceded by a remnant of Christians gathered around a prophetic promise with a deep desire to meet with God face to face.

Often when nothing is happening, we are looking to get to the next new place where God is moving, and although this is good, there is something better, and it is reserved for those who desire to be face to face with God! You see, the hungry don't have to go find the next great move of God…they bring it! Because, as we draw close to Him, He draws close to us, and His manifest presence changes things!

The wilderness and difficult trials are often allowed by God to bring us to a place of hunger for Him. We must understand that He desires our presence as much as we desire His. We were created to be in constant communion with Him, every moment of every day.

In this current move of God, He is causing us to see Him and to see as He sees so that He can prepare us for what is to come. The Fire of His Love causes us to seek to know Him and His ways.

This current move is a baptism of fire that will purge anything that comes between God and us (if we allow it). It removes the veil so that we can see and know Him in a greater, more intimate way. It won't get recognition as a great move of God because it is a very personal repentance and revival. It also won't be talked about much because it is a difficult time that many will struggle with. But once we are able to "see" Him, we are changed in His presence and equipped by His Holy Spirit for our promise and purpose. Then we are to steward that promise until it is fulfilled.

How do we steward the promise? Like Mary, we allow God to prepare us (Let it be done unto me according to your will). Only He knows what we need to fulfill our promise. Then we obey His instructions to bring it to birth, and as the promise grows, we nurture and care for it as we would our own child.

Has the Lord spoken things to you that you are waiting to come to pass? Then have you asked for new eyes to see it, allowed the Lord to prepare you for it, nurtured, and cared for it?

Sometimes, like Abraham, God will require you to lay that promise on the altar. Are you willing to give it up if God asks you to? Sometimes, if He asks you to do this, He will give you a greater promise.

Waiting for your promise also requires patience. When the disciples were in the upper room, they did not know how long they would have to wait for the promise of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. They just had to wait until….until is the turning point.
